Our Story

Our journey began in a land far, far away...wrong story. The Lathers by the Lynns journey started like so many others: with the Covid-19 lockdowns. We needed something to do, so we got creative, and then we fell in love with crochet and soapmaking, so we kept doing it. Now we're here, selling what we love to do: something we never dreamed was possible. Lexi still crochets on the couch every night, a habit she learned from her grandmother, and Rachel still turns the kitchen into a small-batch, soap-pouring command center: just like when we started.

Lathers by the Lynns has always been a homespun, family labor of love. Lexi and Rachel are married (yay!) and the originators, featured together in adorable matching overalls below. Along the way, we picked up an invaluable hype woman, salesman, and general comedian: McKynley, pictured below crouching above her favorite chicken pen display. We also have our three dogs, Buddy, Josie, and Mack, and three guinea pigs, PeeWee, Ravioli, and Pepper Jack, all of which have served as models for crochet animal inspiration.

What we sell and where to buy

01.

Lexi crochets delightfully adorable plushies freehand, without the use of patterns. Each design is her own unique brainchild, made with high-quality yarn and safety eyes. She also does custom orders! You can find a full list of our crochet offerings in our Crochet Portfolio.

02.

Rachel crafts high-quality goat's milk soaps, using only essential oils for scents. She believes soap should feel good AND be fun, so she uses a variety of creative molds and patterns. She also takes custom orders! You can find a full list of our soap offerings in our Soap Portfolio.

03.

We believe strongly in giving back to our community. For every crochet animal purchased, an animal is donated to either LifeHouse Child Advocacy Center in Topeka or the Children's Advocacy Center of Douglas County in Lawrence. These animals are given directly to child victims of crime.

04.

You can find us in person at local craft fairs! We have done the Lawrence Holiday Extravaganza, the Lawrence Spring Artisan Fair, and are working to get into the Maple Leaf Festival in Baldwin. Check the banner at the top of our page to find out where we'll be next!

05.

Have a beloved pet you want to memorialize forever in crochet form? Wondering what to get the folks for the holidays? Want something unique that's all your own? We can make it happen! We love custom orders, so take a look at our Crochet and Soap Customization pages!
